Free Martin Luther King Day South Florida Events


There are several free South Florida events going on tomorrow January 16th on Martin Luther King Day, so choose the right event for your family and head out for a frugal day of celebration.


Event: Martin Luther King Day Parade, Miami, FL
When: Monday January 16th 11 -6:00pm
Cost:  Free
Where: Parade route: Parade at along N.W. 54th Street & 12th Avenue then westbound to N.W. 32nd Avenue, Miami, FL 
What: The parade runs from 11 a.m. Festivities wrap up at 6 p.m. and include children’s cultural area, food booths and a vendor marketplace.

Event: Martin Luther King Parade and Celebration, Dania Beach, FL
When: Monday January 16th 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Cost:  Free
Where: Parade begins at Charlie Will Thomas Park, 800 NW Eighth Ave., Dania Beach and heads south to Northwest First Street, then east to Federal Highway, south to Stirling Road, west to Phippin-Waiters Road, east to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 6 SW Sixth Ave., Dania Beach, FL

Event: Martin Luther King Day Parade, Fort Lauderdale, FL
When: Monday January 16th 9 AM
Cost:  Free
Where: The Parande starts at 9 a.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary, 591 NW 31st Ave., Fort Lauderdale. From there, the route goes east on Northwest Sixth Street to 27th Avenue, then north to Dillard High School, 2501 NW 11th St.

What: Broward County's biggest King Holiday Parade features local high school bands and drumlines, floats and thousands of school children and representatives from local social, civic, cultural and religious organizations. After the parade ends a non-violence rally will start at Dillard High School.

Event: Hallandale Beach Martin Luther King Parade and Festival, Hallandale Beach, FL
When: Monday January 16th 10 a.m.

Where: The parade starts from B. F. James Park, NW 2nd Avenue and NW 9 Street, Hallandale Beach. It travels south to Hallandale Beach Boulevard, west to NW 8 Avenue, and then north to Foster Road. The festival follows at Johnson Park, 900 Northwest 8th Avenue  Hallandale, FL.

What: The parade starts at 10 AM from B. F. James Park, NW 2nd Avenue and NW 9 Street. It travels south to Hallandale Beach Boulevard, west to NW 8 Avenue, and then north to Foster Road. The festival follows at Johnson Park, with local food vendors, speakers, and a battle of the bands.

Event: Martin Luther King Jr Celebration, Boca Raton, FL
When: Monday January 16th 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m
Cost:  Free
Where: Hughes Park, 200 NE 14th St., Boca Raton, FL.
What: The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will feature a commemorative march, guest speakers, music, children’s entertainment, a free picnic and crafting activities

Event: Martin Luther King Day Parade and Celebration, Naples, FL
When: Monday January 16th 11 a.m.
Cost:  Free
Where: The parade begins at 11:00 am on Broad Avenue and Third Street in Naples and travels down Fifth Avenue. The festivities take place in Cambier Park at 11:45 am. Cambier Park address: 775 8th Avenue South, downtown Naples.
What: This year’s theme is: "Affirming America’s Promise”. The hostess and host for this year’s parade will be Saundra Weathers from NBC2/ABC7 and James Cleveland Jones of WCRM 1350 AM, a local gospel radio station. The Grand Marshall will be Wells Fargo Bank. The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the line-up starting at 9:00 a.m. The Celebration begins at 11:45 a.m. with Rev. Raymond Fauntroy, one of Dr. King’s drivers whenever he visited Washington, DC during the turbulent 60’s.
